Creator Check-in: Trump's Win + What It Means For The Creator Industry
Why I took a mental health day + The Future of the creator industry under Trump
Let's have a real talk moment. With everything happening around the presidential election, I wanted to check in and remind you that it's completely OK to take a step back from creating content right now if you need to. Yesterday, I took a full mental health day to process and regroup after the results - no posting, no planning, just being present with my thoughts and emotions. And you know what? That's exactly what I needed.
For those feeling pressure to post or comment on current events - remember that you really don't owe anyone your immediate reactions or hot takes over your mental well-being. Your mental health comes first, always! Take the space you need to process things in your own way, at your own pace.
If you're like me and wondering what all this means for us creators and the influencer space... let me share my predictions:
The creator economy is likely to keep booming
Social media regulations could shift. Trump's previous statements about bringing agencies like the FCC and FTC "back under presidential authority" could lead to changes in the regulatory environment.
AI regulation/de-regulation: Trump stated in his campaign platform that he would repeal Biden’s executive order on AI safety and governance with an AI development “rooted in free speech and human flourishing."
The influencer marketing space will likely continue its upward trajectory - brands aren't pulling back from creator collaborations anytime soon. They've seen the power of authentic voices and that's true no matter who's in office!
While these potential impacts are speculative, we as creators should stay informed about policy changes and be prepared to adapt our strategies accordingly. The actual effects will depend on the specific policies implemented during Trump's presidency and how they interact with the evolving digital content landscape.
The key? Stay flexible, keep building genuine connections with your audience, and focus on creating value - regardless of who's in office. Political changes may affect certain aspects of our industry, but the core of what we do - connecting with and serving our communities - remains constant.
Remember: You've got this, and more importantly, you've got this community supporting you!
Take care of yourselves this week,
Tolani
